Part 7 of ‘things you didn’t know about Iran Trotter’

This is part 7 of the popular Iranian ecotourism series host comments on the show.

The Iran Trotter host Javad Qaraei has made so many interesting tips about the show and himself, in response to journalistic questions in interviews with local media outlets. Here is part 7 of his comments.

In the 5th installment of the series, you read about the host’s family trips, and some of their memories. That included the hardships they went through at times or observed as they were shooting nomads’ lives. Here we continue with the same theme.

One day, as we were climbing the mountains of the northern Iranian province of Mazandaran, we faced something unexpected which made it hard for us to carry on.

You are up there with no access roads around; and then there is this sudden shift in weather. You see rain clouds all over, and it is suddenly raining cats and dogs; pouring. At times, you are panicked to death, as lightning hits the rocks around and you are tied up in a cottage; just think of lightning hitting your cottage and it will be the kiss of death.

Moreover, that is not all, as you are forced to stay locked up in there, for six consecutive days; during all those seemingly endless hours and minutes you are thinking of the next hit right on your head and then all your crew will be on news headlines as loss of life of an ecotourism program staff.

I had already passed several mountaineering courses as well as nature survival and the like, and was well-informed of what dangers lightning and thunder could pose us to, but my colleagues were inexperienced and scared stiff. You know, the lightning is high voltage current and they were caught up in life threatening conditions, me included.

In the next installment, you will read more about hazards and the nature’s tough times through which the crew went with great difficulty.

Stay with our tour of Iran Trotter’s comments in the future episodes of this report.
